Dear Science Enthusiast Participants,
On behalf of the congress organizing committee, we will be happy to see you all among us at the 2nd International Epigenetics Congress with the main theme "Precision Medicine in Personalized Treatment in Complex Chronic Diseases - From Genetics to Epigenetics", which will be held on 2-3 September 2023 in Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Presidency of State Archives, Ottoman Archives Complex by the Nutrigenetics and Epigenetics Association.
Although the number of Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as allergies, autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes, respiratory diseases, dementia, and cancer is increasing day by day, personalized medicine services, which are inevitable to be used for the treatment of these diseases, are not at a sufficient level. However, the importance of a personalized approach that includes nutrition and lifestyle suitable for your genetics and maintaining a healthy life is now known for quite a while. When the understanding of epigenetic approaches that started with the slogan ‘DNA is not destiny’, and the relationship between nutrition and human genetics, combined with environmental factors, it was seen that allergic diseases, heart diseases, autoimmune diseases, and cancer, which we previously stated as familial predisposition, are not actually our destiny.
In the treatment of chronic diseases, the personalized prediction of the diagnosis, the personalization of preventive medical services for diseases, and the active participation of individuals bring the approach of personalized medicine practices instead of applying the same to everyone. Precision medicine encompasses predictive, preventive, personalized, and participatory medicines. Preventive, personalized data-driven genes that deliver better patient outcomes and greater cost-effectiveness than the traditional one-size-fits-all form of medicine. This is an emerging approach to disease treatment and prevention that takes into account individual variability in environment and lifestyle. The importance of precision medicine in the treatment and prevention of chronic diseases, which is a public health issue is increasing every day.
In our congress, academicians, clinicians, and students (medicine, pharmacy, molecular biology/genetics, bioinformatics, biostatistics) for scientific research and development in the fields of genetics, epigenetics, nutrigenetics, microbiota and pharmacogenetics of the applications of precision medicine in individual treatment in chronic diseases and scientifically self-sufficient in this subject. Our program aims to bring together everyone who wants to improve.
